Maskara participates Timbayayong Mindulani 2012
MASKARA THEATER GUILD.INC. through its Artistic Director Erolle Linus Miranda attended the TIMBAYAYONG MINDULANI 2012 on September 8-9, 2012 at SEARSOLIN, Manresa Farm, Cagayan de Oro City. It was a gathering of 27 committed theater practitioners, artists, directors, thespians, and cultural workers actively working for development of culture and arts in Mindanao. This conference aims to strengthen the theater network in Mindanao region.
Conference Highlights: Participants of the conference especially the young listened to the history of Mindulani, an experience shared by Mindulani Inc. Chair, Amy Noel Francisco. Another exciting report was from Ms. Rosalie Zerrudo, where she recounted her experience during her Ford Scholarship in New York ; Relevant updates on NCDA Thrusts and Priorities were given by Lutgardo Labad; Scholarly reports, discussions and sharing of experiences were presentations from Ms. Fe Remotigue (Before MINDULANI to MECA); Marili Fernandez Ilagan (MINDULANI- a research); Br. Karl Gaspar (Mindanao Theater Aesthetics) and Felimon Blanco (The CDA Experience). To further strengthen the vision for Mindanao theater's sustainability, a Strategic Planning session was facilitated by Dr. Steven Patrick Fernandez. It was not just listening to talks and presentations, as expected, participants enjoyed on the spot performances during the evening socials dubbed as "Open Mic and Open Stage."
This said conference was organized by Xavier Center for Culture and Arts (XCCA) headed by its XCCA Director Hobart Savior. The National Commission for Culture and the Arts together with Xavier University Ateneo de Cagayan supported the event.
A learning experience for the young, a reunion of theater practitioners and most importantly, it was a gathering and manifestation that MINDULANI IS ALIVE.
