Peer Support Volunteers’ Basic Training on Community Theater Production
in partnership with Cardio Vascular Disease Project -Handicap International
August 10-12, 2011, Lantaw Bukid, Los Amigos, Davao City
Together with Maskara Theater Guild of Davao, the workshop aims in enriching Handicap International's Peer Support Volunteers’ as well as to develop and utilize their talents, a community theater is considered as one of the more unique approaches in information, education, communication (IEC) that may help the Peer Support Volunteers in giving education and information in a creative way to draw the interest and participation of their target audience in the community. Community awareness is important for the prevention of diabetes, possible lifestyle change, self- risk assessment, awareness about CVD program and its existing services of the CHO-barangay health center. Peer Support committees together with the volunteers’ intend to come-up with a theater production that will be used as a presentation in community events such World Diabetes Day and the like.
